“I have rights!”
In the first chapter of the gospel of John we read that God has given His children certain rights. They have a right to become children of God. Just as all of us came to be through the process of birth, we are born from above to a new family through Messiah. This is the heritage of all those who have received Yeshua as Messiah. We are all adopted by God through faith. In effect, He has paid for all the legal fees and completed all the required “paperwork” for us to be declared truly members of His family. Some day we will all experience the full reality of our adoption by God.
• How often do I address You God with the respect due to a Father who is also King? What attitudes do you need to work on and I need to work on to reinforce this truth in my life?
• If your parents are still alive give them a call and show them respect and honor even if they don’t “deserve” it. If you have children encourage them with a simple call or conversation. Reach out and make a positive connections to family members.
• Yeshua taught His disciples that they were like friends not slaves. Read John 15:12-17 and discuss it together as a group. Notice how Yeshua starts and ends this section with a command to love one another.
