Day Forty-Six – הַיּוֹם שִׁשָּׁה וְאַרְבָּעִים לָעֹמֶר
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Yeshua, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1–2

“Every cloud has a silver lining”
This saying reminds people to look beyond life’s hard circumstances for some good thing. Yeshua “despised the shame” that He would experience but endured the cross for the joy set before Him. Our ability to see beyond our current hardships for a greater good or goal helps us to persevere. This is often not easy. We are encouraged by Yeshua’s own willingness to demonstrate what He would expect. He understands and has experienced the trials that we have. He is a faithful Shepherd. In the mystery of the incarnation God became flesh and experienced the same trials we do.
• How do I understand life in Yeshua? How does the witness of His character and determination give me real hope in my daily struggles?
• Yeshua is fully God and fully man. Discuss this hard topic with someone today. How does this provide an anchor for us during hard times?
• Re-read John 6:10-18 from day 45. We believe these things about Yeshua because the apostles and faithful believers have preserved the witness of who He is and what He did. Consider John 17:20-21 and discuss our part in this continuing process of faith.
